A good dog

This morning my sweet old dog, Calvin, didn’t get up. He was gone, lying on the carpet in front of the fireplace. While we knew his end was near, none of us expected it to be so sudden. It already feels too quiet around here.

Sniff. (teary sniff, not decaying squirrel sniff). I’d love to see that picture of Calvin as a puppy, peeking out of your purse, if you can find it. He was a great dog.

Well, I thought I submitted a comment, but now I’m not sure. I’m so sorry you lost your friend. E-mail me if you want.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Dogs are special, special creatures. Hopefully he is running around somewhere, young and free of old age. I hope you and your family are doing okay.

We’re missing good old Calvin over here. The kids had been risking their allergy attacks lately, giving him snuggles and said they were glad they did. I feel your loss, he was the best dog ever. I’ll never forget his delight at having the good fortune to snag E’s hamburger off our car floor one day when he greeted our arrival–and how forever afterward our car always got a close Calvin inspection. Good boy.
