Trash-picked Treasures

John and I found this when we were out on a date. We were headed to dinner and saw a huge pile of furniture out by the trash — debris to be hauled away prior to a house sale. There were many items but this was the only one we could fit in the car.

I envisioned it fully refinished with a lovely stain to highlight the maple wood. Alas, there were many water stains on it. In spite of lots of stripping and sanding, this piece was destined to be painted. Several coats of black paint later along with some new hardware and I now have a very handy and usable dresser.

It fits perfectly in a nook in my dining room and will be used to hold table cloths and school supplies.

Your dresser looks beautiful. My favorite pieces of furniture are the ones that i spent more time than money.
