Easter morning started really early — 6:30am. It was a doubly exciting day because it was also DNA’s birthday. Eleven years ago he was born on Easter and his birthday has not been on Easter again until this year. The morning started with an egg treasure hunt for the baskets — a favorite tradition that my kids talk about and look forward to.
I blow out the eggs and stuff hints in them. They must smash the egg to find the clue to where the next egg is hidden.
When my children were younger they were amazed at these eggs. They couldn’t figure out how the Easter Bunny got the clues inside of them. Magic was the only possible conclusion. Now that they are older, they can obviously figure out how this happens (hello! there is a visible hole in the egg!) but they still beam with excitement while hunting and smashing.
The last egg lead to where their baskets are hidden.
Much fun follows as each item is examined and much chocolate is consumed. All before the sun rises fully. Happy Easter to all!
